Spend an afternoon creating a hand-bound notebook or art journal using a board game as the cover! Stacy will show you how to recycle any cardboard board game into a one-of-a-kind art book using traditional book binding methods and materials. All supplies will be provided, and some board games will be available to choose from.

What you will learn:

  • How to create a Japanese Stab-Bound Book with multiple stitch variations
  • Bookbinding terms and methods
  • How to create your own book cloth from any light to medium weight cotton fabric and interfacing for the spine
  • Use game pieces and other art materials to embellish and enhance your book cover and inside pages

Optional supplies to bring:

  • Your favorite or 'nostalgic' board game to use for the cover. Make sure it is cardboard, and can be cut with a box cutter or Exacto knife (i.e. NO plastic game boards).
  • yard of cotton fabric to match your game theme (i.e. dice, Monopoly money, etc.)
  • Ribbon or string for binding
  • Paper for inside pages
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Scissors
  • Cutting board

If you have questions, please contact Stacy at or call 703-402-4847.
