"Three Artists, Three Visions" is a small group show featuring the work of Del Ray Artisans members Wendy Band, Sharon Frey, and Linda Lowery. The exhibit opened on June 29 and will run through October 26 at the Prudential PenFed Realty office in Old Town Alexandria. This exhibit is a part of Del Ray Artisans' Gallery Without Walls program in partnership with Prudential PenFed Realty.

Please join us for the reception at 300 N Washington St, Suite 100, on Monday, July 21 from 6pm to 8pm to see this great new show and meet the artists. Reception is free, but please RSVP to Eileen O'Brien at GWW@TheDelRayArtisans.org.

About the artists:

  • Wendy Band works in acrylic, pastel and caran d'ache and paintings in this show come from her "Simple/Complex" series which explores the use of color as communication. "The shapes and forms of fruits and vegetables provide a simple, yet elegantly complex, vehicle through which I express the emotional battle inside," she explains. "The juxtaposition of color, form and mark are the foundation of these works."

  • Linda Lowery has worked in varied media including drawing, ceramics, oil and acrylic painting, though she now concentrates full time on her painting, working both en plein air and in her studio in Alexandria.

  • Sharon Frey is an abstract artist who specializes in large canvas pieces. She describes her artistic process as such: "I paint and use collage to interpret my subjects in ways that are more interesting to me than what I see. My purpose in creating these paintings was to represent an idea or an object by using my imagination and challenging myself, rather than creating art in a predictable manner."

Reception: Monday, July 21 from 6-8pm at Prudential PenFed Realty (300 N Washington St, Suite 100, Alexandria VA 22314). Open to the public, artists, and art enthusiasts. RSVP to Eileen O'Brien at GWW@TheDelRayArtisans.org.

View the exhibit from June 29 through October 26, 2014 during office hours at Prudential PenFed Realty (300 N Washington St, Suite 100, Alexandria VA 22314). Office hours are: Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.
